Diabetes control exercise class

Our exercise physiologist provide guidance for patients with type 2 diabetes or those who are at risk of developing diabetes. The highly individualised exercise program effectively decreases blood sugar levels and regulates insulin levels.  This one-to-one session is led and supervised by our highly experienced exercise physiologist.

Exercise Format to control blood sugar

Circuit based with multiple stations. There will be rounds of warm up and cool down.  You will learn strategies on diabetes prevention. Or if you are already diagnosed, how to effectively manage your diabetes.

  • Incorporating a mixture of cardio and strengthening exercises.

  • Initial assessment will be conducted to ensure physical and physiological capability.

 

Bone density and Falls Prevention

Our exercise physiologist has all the tools to help you build up your bone density (bone hardening), as well as to improve your sense of balance. We provide highly individualised exercise program for people diagnosed with osteoporosis/ osteopenia. It is an effective and healthy alternative to prolia injections.

Exercise format to increase Bone Density:

Incorporating balance exercises and lower limb strength for falls prevention. The class may involve dumbbell weights, resistance bands, and fun activities to stimulate cognitive function.

Neuro Rehab for those with Neurological issues and disabilities

Our exercise physiologist is also highly specialised in providing rehabilitation for people with neurological impairments/disabilities such as Parkinson’s disease, stroke, or cerebral-palsy. Based on the scientifically proven PD Warrior program, participants will achieve at the end of the 10-week program - neuro-protection, neuro-restoration, and neuroplasticity. This means committed participants will experience an actual improvement in their quality of life because of an improvement in the quality of their movements.

Exercise format:

  • Circuit based. Multiple stations. 2 mins each station which we run 2 rounds with warm up and cool down together as a group. Exercises will be: specific, high effort, powerful, complex, meaningful, and fun.

  • Participants will learning strategies on how to implement similar exercises at home safely and on a daily basis during the 10-week program.

  • Initial assessment will be conducted to ensure physical capacity, exercise specificity, and participant’s motivation.

  • We welcome private health insurance, care plan, privately paying, NDIS, Aged care package, or care plan referrals.

Jeffrey Tao

Exercise Physiologist (SIRA Registered), Bachelor of Exercise Physiology, University of New South Wales

Jeffrey is an ESSA-accredited Exercise Physiologist, completing his bachelor’s degree from the University of New South Wales. Jeffrey is passionate about using exercise intervention in people’s lives to improve their quality of living and to treat and manage their musculoskeletal, neurological, chronic, and/or metabolic conditions.

Before establishing in the clinical field, Jeffrey had experience working in the occupational rehabilitation sector to achieve positive return-to-work outcomes for injured workers and those injured from motor vehicle accidents. He also has extensive experience working in the fitness industry as a certified Personal Trainer, working with a range of clients from desk workers to athletes. Jeffrey recognises the importance of providing an individualised and wholistic approach to treating his clients in order to improve all aspects of their lives and empower them to not be defined only by their conditions and injuries.

Outside of the clinic, you’ll find Jeffrey in the gym or participating in hikes and staying active.
