  • A: Yes. Workcover covers all workers in NSW, regardless of citizenship or visa status, as long as you are legally working and injured in the course of employment. here

  • A: No. Workcover is an insurance scheme paid for by your employer’s premiums. Your employer does not pay out of pocket for your treatment.

  • A: No. It is unlawful for an employer to discriminate against a worker because they have made a Workcover claim. Your rights are protected under workplace and anti-discrimination laws.

  • A: If your employer refuses to lodge a claim, you can:

    • Lodge the claim yourself directly with icare (the insurer)

    • Seek support from a GP, lawyer, or union representative

    • Contact SIRA (State Insurance Regulatory Authority) for guidance.

  • A: You are eligible if you:

    • Were employed (full-time, part-time, or casual)

    • Suffered an injury or illness in the course of your work

    • Have a medical certificate confirming your injury is work-related

  • A: Insurers manage the financial side of claims. They often request information quickly and monitor progress closely — this is normal. Remember, your health providers and rehab team are here to support you, not just the insurer.

  • A: The insurer’s role is to manage the claim:

    • Approving treatment requests

    • Covering medical expenses and wage support

    • Monitoring progress and ensuring compliance with Workcover rules

  • A: Rehab providers help coordinate your safe return to work. They may:

    • Assess your work capacity

    • Recommend suitable duties

    • Work with your employer and healthcare providers to plan your recovery

  • A: Your physiotherapist will:

    • Assess your injury thoroughly

    • Provide hands-on treatment and guided exercises

    • Communicate regularly with your GP and insurer

    • Focus on restoring your function and reducing pain

  • A: Your exercise physiologist will:

    • Design safe, tailored exercise programs to restore strength and mobility

    • Provide supervised sessions, including in our on-site gym

    • Help you rebuild capacity to return to work duties

    • Track your progress and adjust your program as you recover
